Glory Church is located in Kibera, a slum in Nairobi, Kenya overcome with poverty and destitution. Since 1994, Glory has been working to fight the enemy by feeding, educating and helping people find hope even in their dire situation. Through the leadership of Bishop Sammy Imbuka and his wife, the church has grown to over 500 members who come together weekly for worship. Glory focuses on evangelism, discipleship, commissioning others to serve, and as a result, 22 other churches have been planted.
The School/Feeding program: Serves 765 students ages 3 through high school. Recently two additional classrooms were added that will help reduce class size and improve the student:teacher ratio. Feeding Program: Meals are served daily while school is both in and out of session; for many children, this is their only meal of the day. The average monthly cost for the feeding program is $2,500. Women’s Empowerment: Every two months Glory hosts a seminar for women that centers around fellowship and worship. About 230 women study the gospel and are taught about living in a way that is pleasing to God. Recently, women were taught how to pray, and came together to pray for the upcoming election. At the conclusion of the seminar, participants are given flour to feed their families and encouraged to practice living a Christlike lifestyle. Youth: Glory regularly hosts conferences for area youth which helps them identify their talents and explore ways in which they might use their God-given gifts to generate income. Glory takes this opportunity to help mentor these young, malleable hearts, teaching them about appropriate and inappropriate behavior. Needs and Opportunities
